These locomotives have been introduced from July 2003 and are of type G400B built by MaK, now Vossloh. They are a direct replacement for the Class 600 which are now extremely old and no longer meet current environmental legislation.
The Loco's are not fitted with ATB so rarely stray on the main line and then only with an ATB fitted loco.
